I've already started dabbling, but I'm far from a complete understanding. Should be fun. :) And Ruby ... Ruby is beautiful. It's really got a lot of things going for it as a language, irrespective of Rails. Further, embedding/extending it in C is super simple compared to Python and especially Perl ... great potential as an embedded language as well as stand-alone.
